This video specifically looks at poverty in Kampala.
The 'safe houses' it promotes are doing a good work, but
the difference between foreigners opening safe homes vs.
a local, former street child who builds sustainable,
trusting relationships is statistically more effective.
Many of the foreign charities have a high turnover (of
children leaving the shelters), but because of
relationship building, the Safe Houses we work with have
had a great response, & it just keeps getting better. While
children used to call Patrick "uncle" and the younger
ones now call him "father" and very few go back to the
streets (and those that have, have done so on good terms).
